CENTRAL TIRE INFLATION SYSTEM
The Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) is a NATIONAL system supports safe driving and griping in military land vehicles. CTIS provides control over the air pressure in each tire as a way to improve performance on different surfaces, such as muddy soil, offroad, sand etc. As an example, lowering the air pressure in a tire creates a larger area of contact between the tire and the ground and makes driving on softer ground much easier.
In addition to providing a safe and sustainable drive, the CTIS optimizes fuel consumption and provides an increased lifetime for the tires by decreasing the surface destruction. For different vehicle loads and speed the driving modes can be selected. The pressure of tires are adjusted automatically, according to driving mode. (i.e. empty, half loaded, fully loaded etc.).
CTIS informs the driver when there is leakage or puncture in the tire. In such cases, the system ensures the continuity of drive by maintaining the tire leakage accordingly driver decision.
ELECTRONIC PRESSURE CONTROL (EPC)
The Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) is the unit that measures the pressure in the tires and inflates or deflates the tire(s) when necessary. It has blackout signal input.
Electronic connection through the pressure switch control mechanism, and allow on-demand inflation and/or deflation of the tires individually or collectively. It offers the user fast tire deflation with the feature of discharge through the wheel valves.
USER CONTROL UNIT (UCU)
The User Control Unit enables the user to send commands to the electronic pressure control unit, and visualizes the information and warnings from the EPC Unit. The UCU provides the current tire pressures, the operation being done (i.e. measurement/inflation/deflation) etc. by the 2.4” TFT screen. The user can select the desired mode by using the built-in keypad including the mode/load buttons. The user can also initiate manual measurement. In addition, the user can change the measurement frequency via the control panel. The UCU is able to connect external digital/analogue inputs – outputs. It has a blackout signal input. It has a buzzer terminal for Warning/Information.
